Sarah Hanks
Profile
Sarah is a fully qualified British Wheel of Yoga* teacher and Sitaram Early Years trainee teacher, teaching regular classes and workshops in and around London. She believes that yoga is for everyone, regardless of age, gender or background.
As an undergraduate student in her early twenties Sarah had a vague notion that Yoga might be a helpful way of dealing with constant aches she suffered as a result of a scoliosis (curvature of the spine). She went to her first yoga class to keep a friend company and fell in love with the Ashtanga Vinyasa System (a physically demanding flowing form of Yoga).
The following year she travelled to Mysore, Southern India to study with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Rangaswamy at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute. She then returned to the UK and commenced her teacher training with the British Wheel of Yoga. For Sarah, Yoga is a glimpse of grace amid the everyday.
Teaching Style
Sarah's inclusive teaching style draws inspiration from the many strands of Yoga, with an emphasis on flowing with the breath whilst developing strength and flexibility in Asana. She encourages students to cultivate that quiet space within through her uplifting yet deeply relaxing classes. She is confident that this millennia-old holistic tradition has huge potential to bring a sense of balance and well being into our busy urban lives.
